The first wave – ISP wave
The first wave of the Web hosting began in the mid-1990s. There was not really many Web hosting companies. Web-hosting, was part of the ISP (Internet service provider)-operation. Within two years of the number of ISPs from a few dozen to a few thousand in the United States alone had grown. Many analysts stated that the consolidation of the ISP industry was inevitable. But analysts not much attention on the future of Web hosting. Web hosting customers for ISPs were who dedicated most small to medium-sized organizations that could offer an Internet connection.
The second wave – a plan, the hosting wave
As large telecommunications companies, entering in the ISP industry and the predominant broadband in both commercial and residential buildings, a few leading ISP like AOL grabbed private customers from small ISP companies had and telcos had commercial customers of small or regional ISP companies purchased or stolen. Because ISPs with AOL, Comcast or Qwest for Internet connection service might compete the economy of scale. Most ISP companies were as fast as they were formed, were gone.
On the other hand, the growth of the Web has pushed the second wave of Web hosting. The Web hosting companies provide used to calculate what ISPs hosting service at a fraction of the cost. Unlike the Web hosting service from ISP that is often adapted for each client a way or another, the idea of hosting plan has helped growing the client from a few hundred hundreds of thousands for some leading hosting companies in a few years. Today’s Web hosting companies do not provide Internet connection service at all. It is incredible that early ISP companies had never tried in Web hosting companies to survive to transform the inevitable consolidation of the ISP industry.
The third wave – hosting plan for users
Experienced webmaster can easily a new website in minutes with one of your favorite hosting company setup. Beginner webmasters are often confused by the various Web hosting plans – affordable web hosting, cheap web hosting, ASP Web hosting, budget hosting, dedicated servers, e-commerce hosting, FrontPage Web hosting, hosting template, managed Web hosting, PHP Web hosting, reseller hosting, shared hosting, UNIX / Linux hosting, virtual private servers, Windows hosting and colocation hosting.
The size of the Web continues to exponentially grow as more people join the Crow to create their own websites. Web hosting companies understand not average Joe expect operating systems, programming languages or variations of Web servers, will the service to develop and sell the hosting plan which will average Maria sense. New Web hosting plan will be labeled what for hosting customers, rather than technical buzzwords.
The Web hosting industry is enjoying healthy growth as the world economy and industry revives. It is too early to see the tide of the third wave in Web hosting now. If the first and the second wave of the Web of hoses were eclipsed by the launch of a new economic cycle, may be the third wave is not either an exception.
